A Busy Weekend with a Crocodile Head

A weekend in Holland sounded like a great idea... and it was! No time for sight seeing unfortunately as I was busily involved in a grand floral event in Amersfort for Floral Movement 2010.

After putting the finishing touches to a 3m high tree, the top of which was made up about 200 stems of Chrysanthemum, I then tackled the next task of creating a "pet" out of flowers. I chose a crocodile, not an obvious pet, and I only made the head, but it seemed to work okay!

These creations were all part of a stage show put on during the Finals of the Dutch National Floristry Finals. My presence on stage was brief but the crocodile went down when we were introduced to the 500 strong audience!

On Sunday I was working alongside a team of other European designers at Edelman, a large supplier of ceramics, glass and giftware. With buckets and buckets of flowers to choose from we create many designs to fit in with the trends for next year. Some of the pieces will be used in the Just Chrys themes throughout 2011.

It was great to meet up with some old faces and meet new friends - a great floral community gathering!
